Chartiers-Houston to graduate 97
Chartiers-Houston will hold commencement exercises for 97 graduates at 7 p.m. Friday at the high school.
Speaking at the ceremony will be valedictorian Michael Paluda, salutatorian Ling Xue and honor graduate Jacqueline Mannina.
Paluda is a son of David and Frances Paluda. Among his awards is the Italian-American Cultural and Heritage Society Scholarship and Friends of Mark West Scholarship. Paluda was president of Mathletes, captain of the football and academic team, treasurer of National Honor Society and competed at the national level in Future Business Leaders of America. He participated in the Light, Video, Sound Club; Leo Club; Future Business Leaders of America and National Business Honor Society. Paluda plans to attend Pennsylvania State’s Schreyer Honors College to study computer science.
Xue is a daughter of Yi and Jin Xue. Among her awards is the Chapman Family Scholarship and the STEM and Attendance Award from Range Resources and MarkWest Challenge Program. Xue was treasurer for the senior class, vice president for Mathletes and Students Against Destructive Decisions and received highest honors for four years. She also participated in marching band, Leo Club, student government, National Honor Society, Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science, Future Business Leaders of America, Charconge and Academic League. Xue plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh to study computer engineering.
