Richard Fincham

Erica Amoroso of Belle Vernon was named to the spring dean’s list at Bethany College.

Joseph Blumer, son of Mary Rossi Blumer and Nicklous Blumer II of Washington, graduated with honors, summa cum laude, from Slippery Rock University with a degree in exercise science. He was president of the Pre-Med Club. A 2014 graduate of Trinity High School, he is the grandson of the late Pio and Helen Rossi of Washington, and the late Nicklous and Patricia Blumer. He is employed by The Meadows Racetrack and Casino and will be attending medical school in Kentucky beginning in July.

Richard A. Fincham graduated with highest distinction from Carnegie Mellon University with a master of science degree in information security policy and management. His studies included work experience with the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT Division of the Software Engineering Institute). He accepted a position as an information security analyst at ACA Aponix in Pittsburgh. Fincham also holds a bachelor of arts degree in computing and information studies from Washington & Jefferson College, where he was a Carnegie Mellon IT Lab JSI Fellow. A 2012 graduate of McGuffey High School, he is a son of Richard M. and Michelle L. Fincham of Canonsburg.

Andrew Gomez of Canonsburg, son of Tracy Eisenman and Frank Gomez, was named to the dean’s list at Kettering University. A mechanical engineering major, he is a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Andrew is a 2016 graduate of Trinity High School and the grandson of Frank and Susanne Gomez of Canonsburg.

Cory William Humphreys, son of Ron and Susan Humphreys of Washington, graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science degree in sports management and a minor in business. He was a four-year member of the California club baseball team and an alumni member of Alpha Kappa Lambda. A 2013 graduate of Trinity High School, he will continue to work at the Brownson House and Vernon C. Neal Pittsburgh in sports management.

Cassidy Kovacicek, daughter of Brenda Kovacicek of Washington, graduated magna cum laude from Westminster College a semester early in December, and walked with the graduating class this past May during commencement. An early education/special education major, she was a member of Lambda Sigma Honor Society, Student Admissions Team, Student Government Association, Council for Exceptional Children, Sigma Kappa Delta, Mortar Board, Kappa Delta Pi and swim team. Cassidy is a 2014 graduate of Trinity High School and a granddaughter of Bertha and the late Lou Kovacicek of Washington.

Connor Thornton Leach graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science degree in engineering, majoring in chemical and biomolecular engineering and geology. He was a member of Penn Geology Society, Newman Catholic Club, Engineering Peer Advisory Group and American Institute of Chemical Engineers. In addition to making the dean’s list, he received a Paleontology Research Award and the A. Norman Hixson Award. Connor has accepted a position with Schlumberger as a drilling fluids engineer. A 2014 graduate of Seton-La Salle High School, Connor is ason of Jeffrey and Denise Leach of Finleyville, and agrandson of Ed and Carol Thornton and Judy Martin Leach of Monongahela.

Austin McDaniel, son of Kurt and Denise McDaniel, was named to the spring dean’s list at Waynesburg University. A business management major with a minor in marketing, he is a 2016 graduate of Trinity High School.

Evan McDaniel, son of Kurt and Denise McDaniel, was named to the spring dean’s list at Waynesburg University. A criminal justice major, he is on the baseball team at the university. Evan is a 2016 graduate of Trinity High School.

Ryan McDaniel, son of Kurt and Denise McDaniel, graduated magna cum laude from Waynesburg University with a degree in accounting. A 2014 graduate of Trinity High School, he was on the dean’s list all eight semesters. Ryan is employed by U.S. Corrugated as a corporate accountant. He also works at Account Master as a staff accountant.

Morgan Taufer, daughter of Dena and Bill Taufer of Washington, was named to the spring dean’s list at Slippery Rock University. An early childhood special education major, she is a 2017 graduate of Bishop Canevin High School. Morgan is the granddaughter of Bill and Charlotte Allen of Washington, and Mary Taufer, also of Washington.

Samuel Trapuzzano, son of Shawn and Ben Trapuzzano of Washington, was named to the spring dean’s list and the president’s list at West Virginia University with a 4.0 GPA. A finance and economics major, he is a member of Beta Gamma Honor Society, WVU Chimes Honorary Society, Phi Sigma Theta Honor Society, Career Readiness Program, National Society for Collegiate Scholars and The Society of Collegiate Leadership & Achievement. He is also a member of the WVU football team. Samuel is agrandson of Beverly Romano of Washington and the late Sam Romano, and the late Ben Sr. and Elizabeth Trapuzzano. He is a 2016 graduate of Trinity High School.

West Virginia University Libraries selected Rachel A. Wattick, a graduating senior from Canonsburg, as a 2018 Robert F. Munn Undergraduate Library scholar. Wattick won for her thesis, “The Relationship between Dietary Quality and Mental Health in a Young Adult Appalachian College Population.” Wattick’s work represents an important investigation into mental and public health issues in Appalachia. Wattick will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in human nutrition and food, and plans to stay at WVU to earn a Ph.D. in social and behavior sciences from the School of Public Health.
