Washington Hospital Greene Auxiliary will hold a Paradise Cookies sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, in the main lobby of the hospital, 350 Bonar Ave., Waynesburg. Cookies being sold include lady locks, pecan tassies, nut horns, peanut butter and more. Orders will be taken for cookie trays to be delivered March 26. On Wednesday, a uniform, shoe and accessories sale will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital’s Guesman Room. Both events benefit the auxiliary.
The Washington County Democratic Women will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the Public Meeting Room at Courthouse Square. Special Election candidates Connor Lamb and Clark Mitchell Jr. will speak.

Fresh Fire Church will be present to support the free Produce to People food program set for 10 a.m. to noon on Thursdayin the Fiddler’s Building at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Volunteers are needed to help beginning at 8:30 a.m. The next date is April 12. Anyone who needs food is welcome; there are no income limits.

Fix ‘Ur Cat will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser on March 9 at Western Area Career Technology Center, 688 Western Avenue, Canonsburg. The menu includes spaghetti with marinara or meat sauce, salad, dinner roll, cookies, and lemonade or water (soft drinks and coffee will be available for purchase). Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., takeout begins at 3 and dinner is from 4 to 7 p.m. Food will be prepared by WACTC’s culinary arts department. There will also be an auction and bake sale. Tickets are $10, and all profits benefit Low Cost Spay/Neuter Washington County. A-1 Auto Transport is offering scholarships to Pennsylvania college-bound students that are attending a school, institute driving school or other program. Applicants are asked to write a 1,000-word essay on a topic of interest in the auto transport industry and to those who need to ship their car or plan to move long distance or overseas. Three scholarships will be awarded: $1,000, $500 and $250. Applicants should email their essays along with their full name and the school they are attending to scholarships@a1autotransport.com. Westmoreland Woodlands Improvement Association will host a talk titled “Pruning, Planting and Caring for Fruit and Landscape Trees” at 6:30 p.m. March 15 in the J. Roy Houston Conservation Center (the Westmoreland Conservation District barn behind the Donohoe Center) at 218 Donohoe Road in Greensburg. The evening begins at 6 with a social half hour in the barn. A knitting and crocheting women’s mission group meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays at the Slovan building of Burgettstown Presbyterian Church for Bible study and to make afghans, hats, scarves and other items for women in need. The Carpathian Cookery cookbook, now in its 18th printing, is currently available for sale. The 330-page cookbook includes sections on Christmas and Easter customs and recipes, traditional Rusyn and Slavic foods, other ethnic dishes, and many recipes of St. John’s parishioners.
