A community dinner will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, in Fellowship Hall at Rogersville United Methodist Church. The meal will include choice of fish or creamed chicken sandwich, mac and cheese, peas, applesauce, dessert and beverage. There is no charge for dinner, but donations are accepted. An Easter egg hunt will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday outside Langeloth Community Center, 1421 Langeloth Road. The Preston and Cox family is organizing the free event. Age groups will be divided into birth to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 10, and 11 and up. There will be a DJ, an appearance by the Easter Bunny and giveaways of bikes and toys.
A Live Long, Live Strong Free Cooking Class will be held at 6 p.m. April 3 and April 5 at Washington Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 901 N. Main St., Washington. Seven favorite recipes from the longest living cultures around the world will be demonstrated and tasted each night. Space is limited. Call 724-747-4268 to reserve a seat.
The Parent Group – Southwestern Local Task Force I monthly meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to noon April 5 at Washington OVR, 201 West Wheeling Street, Washington (note the change of location). There will be a presentation on Transition by OVR staff. All parents of children with disabilities are encouraged to attend, as well as personnel from agencies and school districts in the Washington, Fayette and Greene counties. Donora Historical Society will hold its eighth annual and spring edition Cement City Home and Walking Tours on April 21-22. Meet at 1 p.m. at the Smog Museum at 595 McKean Avenue (McKean and Sixth Street) in Donora for the presentation, then drive to Thomas Edison’s Cement City Historic District for the Home and Walking Tour. The walk will conclude by touring the interior of at least two homes where rooms are restored to the period. Allow at least 2.5 hours for the entire presentation and tour. Space will be limited.
