The 2018 Lecture of the A.D. White Research Society will be held Saturday at Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village in Avella. Dr. Frank Muzopappa, PhD, will discuss towns that have disappeared from the landscape between Avella and Follansbee, W.Va., including Penowa, Penobscot, Kidd’s Mill and Cliftonville. Dr. Muzopappa is the author of “Penowa.” The program begins at 11 a.m. before the opening of Meadowcroft at noon. Coffee and pastries will be served before the program.

Aleppo Brethren Church, 1049 Green Valley Road, Aleppo, will host a Hymn Sing from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. A light meal will be served at intermission.

California Area Historical Society will hold a porch sale from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Gallagher House, 423 Wood St.

Boy Scout Troop 1315 of Washington will sponsor a blood screening event from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday at SeniorLIFE, next to the Washington Wild Things stadium. A $45 fee includes results from 39 blood tests including cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose with results sent directly to your doctor. Additional tests such PSA, thyroid, A1C, rheumatoid arthritis and urinalysis available. No prescription or appointment is needed. A minimum 10-hour fast is required. St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Sixth Street and Lookout Avenue, Charleroi, will hold its annual indoor yard sale and flea market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, May 12 and 19. Luncheon items will be available for eat-in or take-out. A bake sale will also be held.

A country music concert will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at New Freeport fire hall. Country Sounds will perform from 7 to 8:30, with Dick Rutan & Friends taking the stage from 8:30 to 10. Admission is $5. The event is sponsored by New Freeport Ladies Auxiliary.

Pittsburgh Historical Music Society will present An Evening of 18th Century Music from 7 to 10 p .m. Saturday in the parlor of Woodville Plantation, Collier Township. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer (for 21+), and see the National Historic Landmark home. Tickets are $25 at http://woodvilleplantation.org. Seating is limited. Woodville Plantation will also hold an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and May 30. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Ages 6 and younger are free.

A round/square dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Claysville Community Center. There will be a 50/50 raffle and cake walk. Food and drinks will be available. Cost is a donation of $5 per person. Proceeds benefit McGuffey Relay for Life.

West Alexander American Legion will hold a Mother’s Day baked steak dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children age 5 and younger.

Chapel Women Connect-Washington will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at The Bible Chapel – Washington campus, 34 W. Wheeling St. This panel discussion on the struggles of addiction and the hope of recovery will include women whose lives have been affected in different ways by the reality of addiction. Amwell Township Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Amwell Township Municipal Building. Joshua Scully will present a program on “The Pontiac Rebellion that occurred after the French and Indian War.” The executive board will meet at 6.
