Jefferson-Morgan to honor 49 seniors

Jefferson-Morgan High School will hold commencement for 49 seniors at 7 p.m. Thursday in the school’s auditorium.
The valedictorian, Connor Alcorn of Morgan Township, and the salutatorian, Randon Payo of Mather, will speak during the ceremony.
Alcorn, a son of Charles and Francesca Alcorn, is treasurer of National Honor Society and won a STEM second-place award, the Robert E. Titus Educational Award, the Bausch+Lomb Honorary Science Award and was a National Merit Scholar Finalist. He is a member of the debate team, academic league, peer jury, library club and foreign language club and STEAM competition. He volunteered for after-school tutoring programs at school and at Eva K. Bowlby Library. Alcorn plans to attend University of Pittsburgh on a full-tuition scholarship.
Payo, son of Margaret and Jaison Abell, made the honor roll at Greene County Career and Technical Center and has won the Challenge Program Awards for STEM and Academic Excellence and the Bar and Star awards for GPA. He participated in academic league, foreign language club, Bots IQ, science olympiad and engineering competition. He plans to attend Penn State World Campus and major in security and risk analysis.
