Carmichaels to honor 68 seniors

Carmichaels Area High School will hold commencement for 68 seniors at 7:15 p.m. Friday in the school’s gymnasium.
The two class valedictorians are Charles Lowry of Nemacolin and Cayleigh Pratt of Carmichaels. Evan Burnett of Carmichaels is the salutatorian. The class president, Kristina Aeschbacher of Rices Landing, will address the class and call roll.
Lowry, a son of C.J. Lowry and Leanna Madich, is a member of the National Honor Society who played football and basketball. He was also a member of band, student council, ski club and chemistry club and volunteered with Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Relay for Life. Lowry received a first-year scholarship and a provost scholarship to attend Penn State University, Fayette, where he plans to major in nursing.

Evan Burnett
Pratt, a daughter of Kimberly Simon-Pratt and Kevin Pratt, is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. She participated in band, where she was the drum major, French club, chemistry club and anatomy club. She also edited the school newspaper and yearbook. Pratt received a presidential scholarship and a good neighbor scholarship to attend Washington & Jefferson College, where she plans to major in chemistry and neuroscience.
Burnett, a son of Bradley and Debra Burnett, is vice president of the National Honor Society and a member of Quarterbacks for Life and won several honors for his participation with the school’s football team. He plans to attend West Virginia University to major in electrical engineering.
The keynote speaker will be Aaron Waters, a 1990 Carmichaels Area graduate who served with the Coast Guard for years and continues as the chief of Force Readiness Command’s Business Operations Division.
