Firm makes $1.3M network investment in Greene

Windstream Holdings Inc., provider of advanced network communications and technology solutions, announced Thursday it will invest $1.3 million to upgrade its network and provide faster broadband speeds in Greene County.

Highlights of the project include:

• Installation of fiber optic cable throughout downtown Waynesburg to enable faster broadband speeds to about 4,200 customer locations by the second half of 2019;

• Installation of fiber optic cable in Carmichaels, Rogersville, Greensboro, Jefferson and Mt. Morris to enable faster broadband speeds to about 1,000 customer locations by spring 2019;

• Ongoing installation of fiber-to-the-home connections to enable Gigabit speeds in areas of Greene County where deployment is economically feasible; and

• An initiative to upgrade equipment and replace cable and poles throughout the county, to be completed by the end of 2018.
