Lamplighters reunite at Waynesburg
The Waynesburg University Music Program will host a reunion concert of the Lamplighters Touring Choir today, starting in the morning and culminating with a 7 p.m. concert in Roberts Chapel.
Directed by Melanie Catana, assistant professor of vocal music and director of choral music, current Lamplighters choirs will be joined by nearly 50 Lamplighters alumni as they jointly sing favorite songs from over the years. The concert will also feature a special tribute to James D. “Fuzzy” Randolph, founder of the Lamplighters.
Choir members and alumni will spend all day getting to know each other, sharing meals and practicing the concert repertoire, according to Catana. Several special guests will be a part of the evening’s program, including former Lamplighters director, Anne Phipps, and former Lamplighters accompanists, Nelson Fox and Ferdinand Dolfi.
