Waynesburg Christmas Parade deadline approaching
The Greene County Chamber of Commerce is reminding residents and organizations that the entry deadlines for the 2018 Downtown Waynesburg Christmas Parade to be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 1 is approaching.
The early entry deadline is Friday with an entry fee of $10 per unit. Late registration entries will be accepted until Nov. 21 with an entry fee of $20 per unit. No entries after Nov. 21 or the day of parade will be accepted. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade that did not receive an application is asked to contact the Chamber office at 724-627-5926 or email info@greenechamber.org.
The parade will be led by Grand Marshals Miss Rain Day 2018 Loren Schroyer and the Chamber’s 2018 Distinguished Service Award winners, Sister Audrey Quinn of Waynesburg and the family of the late William “Bill” Gensler, along with a representative from the 2018 McCracken Legacy Award winner, EQT. The parade will step off from the intersection of High and Richhill streets promptly at 2 p.m. The route will end at the intersection of High and Cumberland streets.
Line up, disbanding of the parade and detours for through traffic will occur on the following streets: West Street from High to Second, Second from Richhill to West, Richhill from Second to High, College from Washington to West, Wayne from College to Washington, Franklin from College to Washington and Cumberland from Greene to Strawberry Alley. High Street will close to traffic and parking from West to Cumberland at 1:50 p.m. and will remain closed through the end of the parade. In addition, both First Baptist Church parking lots will be closed along with the First United Methodist Church parking lot to line up the parade units.
Residents living in the area are reminded that parking will be prohibited beginning at noon on parade day. Route 19 traffic will also be detoured from noon to 3:30 p.m. A detour route will be available for traffic beginning at McCracken Pharmacy.
