Jefferson United Methodist Church will host a benefit dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 in Jefferson Community Center, Jefferson Road, Jefferson. The menu includes baked steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, country-style green beans, candy carrots, pickled beets, coleslaw, rolls, desserts and beverage. Cost is $12 for adults, and $5 for children 12 and under. The dinner will benefit the family of Michael and Laura White, of Bowser Road, Morgan Township, whose house exploded and burned Oct 16. Their son, grandson, and grandson’s mother were burned and taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Pennsylvania Chapter will hold its free Fall Caregiver Conference from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township. Participants will be provided information on topics such as financial planning for dealing with dementia, understanding palliative and a panel discussion on different perspectives of caregiving. Keynote speaker will be Evan Bass Zeisel, whose short film “How You Are to Me,” which highlights the caregiver’s perspective of dealing with dementia on a daily basis, won Best Short Film at the 2018 Short.Sweet.Film Festival.
