Scholarship to honor teacher
To honor the memory of Washington School District music teacher David Dayton, who died Sept. 1, the David Dayton Memorial Scholarship will be presented by his family each spring at the annual High School Awards Day to a senior who participated in band, has a minimum 3.0 GPA and plans to attend college. The Washington School Board approved the scholarship at its voting meeting Oct. 15. The first $1,000 award will be given in the spring.

In order to start and maintain the memorial scholarship, donations to the “David Dayton Memorial Scholarship” can be mailed to the Washington School District Central Office, 311 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, to the attention of Lisa Coffield. In addition, the Wash High Band Aides are selling T-shirts of which the profits will go to the scholarship fund. Additional fundraisers will be planned by the band and alumni.
