JA honors Donora native, other business execs
Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania hosted the 30th annual Spirit of Enterprise Dinner and Awards ceremony at the Westin Convention Center Hotel, Pittsburgh.
Individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the business, social and cultural communities in this region were honored at the Nov. 14 event. Each year, chosen laureates are interviewed by Junior Achievement high school students weeks before the event, and the teens use the information and experiences the honorees share to write an introduction they will read on stage.
Junior Achievement honored four individuals and one organization, including Carolyn Duronio, a Donora native and partner of the Reed Smith LLP law firm. She received the Fred Rogers Good Neighbor.
The other honorees were: Jim Nickel, managing director, CIBC (JA Distinguished Alumni Award); Richard Lunak, president and CEO, Innovation Works (Entrepreneurial Achievement); Walt Turner, retired president and chief executive officer, Koppers (Business Hall of Fame Laureate); and Oberg Industries (Impact Company of the Year).
