W&J hosts homecoming activities

Homecoming weekend at Washington & Jefferson College will be held Friday and Saturday on the Washington campus. In addition to welcoming W&J alumni home, the college will offer several events that are free and open to the public.

Friday

• The W&J Jazz Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the theater at Olin Fine Arts Center. The Ensemble will perform new music in collaboration with saxophone virtuoso and Pittsburgh-based artist John Petrucelli. For more information, visit www.washjeff.edu/wj-college-jazz-ensemble.

Saturday

• The Dieter-Porter Medical Lecture will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Room 100 of the Dieter-Porter Life Sciences Building. The topic is “Neonatology: Therapeutic Misadventure in Medicine’s Last Frontier,” and the speaker is Gary Silverman, M.D. ’78. • The W. Edward Sell ’45 Legal Lecture also will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Allen Ballroom of Rossin Campus Center. The topic is “Privileged or Not Privileged: The Attorney-Client Doctrine Under Attack.” Panelists are Attorney Melanie Stevens ’84; Judge Christine Ward ’78; Attorney John Friedmann ’02; Attorney Jason Luckasevic ’97; and Attorney Lynn Ellenberger ’87. • The Psychology Panel Discussion, “Autism: Community Programs & Clinical Resources,” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Yost Auditorium of the Howard J. Burnett Center. Panelists are John McGonigle Ph.D.; Shanna Reese Ph.D, ’11; Lisa Leach M.S., L.P.C. ’97; and Matthew Tutay M.S., M.S.W., L.S.W. ’08. Two CEUs will be granted to licensed social workers, clinical social workers, professional counselors, and marriage and family therapists who attend.
