Mon Valley Initiative to celebrate 30 years
Mon Valley Initiative will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a dinner and awards ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Sunset Room, Elizabeth Township.
MVI, a nonprofit community development corporation, will honor partners from Braddock, Charleroi, East Pittsburgh, Monessen, Rankin, Swissvale, Turtle Creek and West Newton. Laurel Shaw Randi, of the McCune Foundation, will receive MVI’s Sen. H. John Heinz III Award for Community Service. Pittsburghers for Public Transit will be presented the Regional Partnership Award.
Pittsburgh broadcaster Larry Berger will be master of ceremonies.
MVI, with offices in Charleroi and Homestead, serves municipalities in Washington, Westmoreland and Allegheny counties. The alliance provides housing counseling, real estate and community development, and workforce and business development services.
