The National Pike Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in partnership with Citizens Public Library will hold a free genealogy workshop from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the library located at 55 South College Street in Washington. Patricia Stavovy, genealogist and member of National Pike Chapter, DAR, will present “An Introduction to Genealogy.” Reference librarian Ella Hatfield will give an overview of the library resources. The Sonny Pugar Memorial 15th Annual Rhythms of Life fundraising concert will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Headliners at The Meadows Casino in Washington. Doors open at 6 p.m. Music begins at 7. The 21-and-over event will include a silent auction, door prizes and free buffet from 6:30 to 8:30 courtesy of The Meadows. Tickets are $20 in advance at www.sonnypugar.org or via email at spugar@comcast.net, or $25 at the door. Proceeds benefit the charity’s flagship program, Music Smiles – Live Music in Caring Places, which funds professional musicians’ live music performances in area health facilities.

The Mon/Yough Chapter 3 of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology will meet on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 203 Frich Hall on the campus of California University of Pennsylvania. There will be business meeting at 7 p.m. At 7:30, guest speaker Cearra Mihal, junior anthropology major at Cal U. will speak on the topic “Inferring Differential Treatment Between Sex and Age Using Burial Goods.”

Tri County Borough Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at St. George Croatian Home, 26 Grant Street, Cokeburg. A meal will be served promptly at 7. The business meeting will follow. Guest speaker will be Randy Durr, regional external affairs, and C.D. Jarret, program manager for First Energy.

The Warrior Trail will hold its general membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at its headquarters located in the one-room schoolhouse at 1346 Garards Fort Rd., Waynesburg. Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh presents “Learn about the Moon” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Heritage Public Library in McDonald. Mike Christeson will present interesting facts about the moon and other AAAP members will bring their telescopes for viewing the night sky afterward.

Washington Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a shoe sale Thursday and Friday, Oct. 18 and 19, in the community room at the hospital. Hours on Thursday are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday hours are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will include casual and athletic footwear, boots, accessories and more.

The Bradford House Museum, Washington, will host the annual Ghosts of Washington Haunted History Walking Tours from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19 and 20. Narrators in 18th-century attire will lead small groups around the Main and Maiden streets vicinity while telling historic tales. Tours will leave from the garden of the museum at 175 South Main Street every 20 to 30 minutes, and last about 45 minutes. Free parking is available on the street or in nearby city lots. The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Charleroi will hold a lasagna dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Tickets, $12 for adults and $8 for children under 6, include a slice of lasagna, salad, Italian bread and dessert. Takeout is available. The Amateur Astronomer’s Association of Pittsburgh will hold a public star party on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Mingo Creek Observatory located near Shelter 10 in Mingo Creek County Park. The program will begin at dusk. Viewing will take place as long as there is a partly-clear sky. If it is raining or cloudy, the program will be cancelled.
