Fort Vance Historical Society will host speaker John Punola, a historian who will present “What You Didn’t Know About the Civil War” at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the meeting room of Burgettstown Community Library, 2 Kerr Street, Burgettstown. Punola, a native of McDonald, is on the staff of “Civil War News” and will discuss the little-known facts of the Civil War.

Fort Vance will also display its collection of local Civil War letters from the Scott Family of the Bethel Ridge area. The subjects discussed between the family ranges from everyday life to the battlefields. Other local Civil War information will be available for viewing.
