Giant Oaks Garden Club will hold its annual fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for vendor shopping, GOGC raffle and 50/50 ticket sales, and a home-baked pantry. There will be door prizes and an early-bird drawing for a print by Linda Barnicott. There will also be a Victorian dress-up contest for those who wish to participate. A Taste of the National Road Dinner featuring chefs and local celebrities from all along the Historic National Road, preparing recipes for the upcoming cookbook “Grub to Gourmet … the History of Food along the National Road,” will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Fayette Bank Building, 52 W. Main Street, Uniontown. The menu will include a plentiful sampling of gourmet starters, soup, salads, entrees and desserts along with a selection of curated beverages. Kente Arts Alliance will present The Baylor Project at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, 1815 Metropolitan Street, Pittsburgh, at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. Married musicians — vocalist Jean Baylor and drummer Marcus Baylor — have created a three-way intersection of jazz, gospel and legacy. A chicken and biscuit dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Claysville Christian Church. Dinner includes creamed chicken over biscuit, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, dessert and beverage. A free-will offering will be received. Takeout is available.
The 37th Annual Carpatho-Rusyn Celebration will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 201 E. Main Street, Uniontown. There will be ethnic foods, baked goods, crafts, dancers, folk displays, raffles, music, demonstrations, speakers, children’s activities and more. Freeport Township Clean Up Days will be held Sunday and Monday, Oct. 28 and 29. A dumpster will be provided at the township building. Excluded from the collection will be household garbage, refrigerators (unless red tagged) and tires. This is for residents only.
