New exhibit opens at photo museum
“The Golden Age of Flying and the Air Races” exhibit will be shown at Photo Antiquities, 531 E. Ohio St., Pittsburgh, starting Nov. 1 daily, except for Tuesdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Miss Pittsburgh, which now hangs at Pittsburgh International Airport, will be shown in action, as will the aviator daredevils who raced around pylons at the Cleveland Air Races.
Photos and accounts of many early female fliers, including McKeesport-born Helen Richey, will be featured.
The museum is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays. Admission is $10, or for $20, members can view every exhibit for a year. Groups of six or more, at an entry fee of $8 per person, can be given a tour by a specialist.
The museum has a permanent collection, including Civil War general photographs, glass plates, cameras and photos of “Shantytown,” Depression-era of what is now the Strip District.
