Mission gala supports programs
Washington City Mission hosted the Fall Gala to support their programs on Oct. 5 at Noah’s Event Venue in Southpointe.
“We worked hard to raise the bar on our Fall Gala,” said Dr. Sally Mounts, City Mission’s chief development officer. “And I think it proved to be a spectacular evening.”
This year’s theme was “Escape to Santorini,” a tribute to the Greek island known for its natural beauty and sunsets. With living statues, live music and dancers, artists creating in an open-air marketplace, and a strolling dinner of Greek cuisine, the event aimed to capture the energy and excitement of the island.

The nearly 200 guests who attended the event bid on a variety of auction items, had their sketches drawn by a sketch artist and their photos taken in front of a backdrop of the town of Oia.
City Mission premiered an eight-minute film, produced by Production Masters Inc., that featured staff and residents in a tribute to the work of the mission and the impact it has on the community.
With a mission of removing barriers and changing lives, City Mission offers comprehensive recovery programs.
The mission has a career training and education program that secured jobs for 18 residents in August, a new veterans’ facility designed to provide specific and targeted support to homeless veterans, and a 45 percent increase in their capacity to house those in need.
Relying almost exclusively on private donations, City Mission continues to need support from the community, as they strive to meet the demand for expanded services and need caused by the opioid crisis.
