Constitution Day

to highlight election

Constitution Day 2018 will be marked Monday by California University of Pennsylvania with presentations that address midterm elections and “fake news.”

Jon Delano, money and politics editor at KDKA-TV, presents “Campaign 2018: Why Pennsylvania Can Make the Difference,” at 7 p.m. in Eberly Hall, Room 110.

A political analyst for KDKA-TV since 1994, Delano became the station’s first money and politics editor in September 2001. He has served as a moderator and panelist for many candidate debates, including debates for governor, U.S. Senate and state attorney general.

William Meloy and Loring Prest, faculty members in Cal U.’s Department of Library Services, will conduct an interactive session, “Midterms Matter: Facts Matter,” at 10 a.m. Monday in Manderino Library, Room 208. The session will repeat at 11 a.m.

They will share tips on how to be responsible consumers of the news and explain the importance of an independent press in a democracy.

Prest is a professor and the university’s electronic resources librarian. Meloy, chair of the Department of Library Services, is an associate professor and the research and electronic collections librarian.

The Constitution Day programs are free and open to the public.
