Connected Threads, a knit and crochet women’s mission group, meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays at the Slovan building of Burgettstown Presbyterian Church for Bible study and to make afghans, hats, scarves and other items for women in need. Washington Hospital Auxiliary’s In the Bag Sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18 and 19 in the Washington Hospital Community Room. There will be a large selection of brand name and designer handbags, wallets, mini bags, luggage, briefcases and small leather goods at discount prices.
The St. Vincent de Paul-sponsored Food Bank will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at First United Methodist Church, 215 Church St., Brownsville. New clients can also come at this time to register.
Cecil Township Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 in the meeting room of the Cecil Township Municipal Building. Guest speaker Jay Ramsey will present “Remembering Isaly’s.” Klondikes and chipped chopped ham barbeque sandwiches will be available.
Heritage Public Library, 52 4th St., McDonald, will offer a seminar, “Protecting Your Estate,” at 5 p.m.Sept. 19. Food and drinks will be provided at the seminar, presented by First Commonwealth Bank.
The monthly meeting of the Tri County Borough Association will take place Sept. 20 at Hugo’s Restaurant, 687 National Pike West, Centerville Borough, Brownsville. A meal will be served at 7 p.m. with a business meeting to follow. Guest speaker will be Diane Hasbrouck, director for Volunteer Programs and Service Learning at California University of Pennsylvania.

Help is needed for the Food Bank at Calvin U.P. Church, 307 Spring St., Brownsville, at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 21 to unload. Help is needed again at 9:15 a.m. Sept. 22, to distribute the food, which begins at 10.
Peters Township Parks and Recreation welcomes Little Lake Theatre Company to Peterswood Park Outdoor Amphitheater at 2 p.m. Sept. 22 for a performance of “Macbeth.” Bring a chair or blanket and snacks to this free event.
