Cecil Girl Scout earns award
Girl Scouting’s highest awards – the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards – are a Scout’s chance to make a lasting difference in the world.
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania recently presented Anna Robertson of Cecil with the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest recognition for achievement in Girl Scouting for girls in grades 6-8.
The award recognizes girls who demonstrate extraordinary leadership through sustainable and measurable “Take Action” projects that address important community needs.
Through a leadership project, Anna wanted to address the issue of children in need.

As a result of her pillowcase dress project and clothing drive, Anna was able to help children in the Community of Hope in Haiti in 2018.
Soon after visiting the Community of Hope in Haiti in 2016, she was inspired to do what she could to help kids in need. She used the leadership and communication skills that she developed in Girl Scouts to educate people in her community about what “having nothing” really looks like, and what a faith in God can inspire. Armed with supplies as a result of her pillowcase dress project and clothing drive, she was able to return to the Community of Hope in 2018 feeling empowered.
Anna is the daughter of Greg and Debora Robertson. A Girl Scout member of Troop 51286 for nine years, she was supported in her Silver Award efforts by Venice Presbyterian Church in Cecil and LaCroix New Testament Mission in Haiti.
