Lander – 50 years

Wayne and MaryAnn Lander of Midway celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today. The couple was honored during the recent wedding reception for their son, Marty, and daughter-in-law, Candice. They are also planning to enjoy a “surprise” weekend getaway arranged by their children.
Mr. and Mrs. Lander were married September 28, 1968, at St. Ann’s Church in Bulger, by the Rev. George Garber.
Their children are Marty (Candice) Lander of Bulger, Lisa (Jay) Kemerer of Trafford, Wayne (Jenna) Lander Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Brian (Michelle) Lander of Imperial.
Their grandchildren are Richard Lander, Lana Strojny, and Briana and Austin Lander.
Mr. Lander began his career by owning a trucking company and gas station with his brother, Ben. He then worked for Industrial Service Contractors (ISC). After a long working career, which included many overtime hours and double shifts, he retired from International Mill Service (IMS)-Weirton, W.Va., Division in early 2004.
Mrs. Lander worked for Deluxe Check Company prior to the birth of their first child. After raising their four children, she provided care to the children of several other families.
