Peters Township Parks and Recreation will hold Superhero Night for ages 10 and under from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3. Cost is $5 per child for members and $8 per child for non-members. Registration is recommended at www.peterstownship.com.
Elizabeth Forward Area Community Chorus will hold its spring show, “Rise Up,” May 3-5 at Elizabeth Forward High School. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 3 p.m. Sunday. Lone Pine Christian Church will hold a square dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Lone Pine Community Center located at 328 Weaver Run Road in Washington. The Waynesburg Unity Trail will host its second annual “Not So Typical” Easter Egg Hunt for local children Saturday, April 13. The free event, a joint project of the Borough of Waynesburg and Waynesburg University, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on the trail. Each egg will resemble an actual bird’s egg, and instead of candy inside, there will be a sticker of the bird that lays that egg. Janet Paladino, professor of biology, said the event gives children the opportunity to learn about local ecosystems and the importance of biodiversity. Participants will also receive free plants donated by the Ecostewards club of Waynesburg University, and be entered into a drawing for an Easter basket donated by the United Way. South Fayette School District will hold a community breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Easter parade and egg hunt on Saturday, April 13. Breakfast will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. at the high school food court. The Easter Bunny will lead a parade at 11 from the front of the high school to the football stadium where an egg hunt will begin at 11:15. Breakfast is $5 per person, payable at the door, and includes pancakes, beverage, coloring book, treat and a visit with the Easter Bunny. Bring a camera. Kiwanis Club of Washington will hold Breakfast with the Easter Bunny from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Penn Commercial (next to Big Lots) in Washington. Children eat for free. Adults pay $5. There will be activities, prizes and more.
The Bradford House, Washington, will present High Style on the Frontier from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, featuring a 90-minute tour focusing on antique furniture in the Bradford House Collection led by Tripp Kline, retired auctioneer, appraiser and antiques dealer. Civil Air Patrol Greene County Composite Squadron 606 will host a chicken roast beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Waynesburg VFW Post 4794 located at 445 E. Lincoln Street. Whole chickens are $10 each. The event will end when the food runs out. Squadron 606 trains youth and adults in aerospace education, emergency services and cadet programs. Proceeds from the event will held send cadets to training events and purchased needed search and rescue gear.
The Social Service League will hold its annual Easter egg hunt for children age 10 and younger on Saturday, April 13, at West Park in Waynesburg near Bowlby Public Library. The park will be divided into separate areas for five different age groups, with the egg hunt beginning promptly at 10 a.m. Children should bring a basket or bag for gathering their eggs. The Easter Bunny will be on hand to greet children and pose for photos. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Saturday, April 20.
