Richard and Jean (Surow) Cholak of Meadow Lands will celebrate their golden wedding today by renewing their vows prior to an intimate dinner.

Mr. and Mrs. Cholak were married on April 12, 1969, in St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church by Father Joseph Jugan.

They have two daughters, Tris Ann (Mark) Garboski and Megan (Jason) Dill, and three grandchildren, Molly and Joshua Garboski, and Cameron Dill.

The couple are Chartiers-Houston alumni and members of the Meadow Lands United Methodist Church. Before and after his U.S. Army service, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam, Mr. Cholak was employed in the steel industry as an overhead craneman for 40 years. He retired from Jessop Steel in 2006. Following several years of doing medical transcription and legal secretarial work, Mrs. Cholak worked in the labor relations/human resources/benefits field for 30 years, officially retiring after employment at Spartech Polycom, Inc. in 2009.

Mr. and Mrs. Cholak enjoy traveling, and several trips are planned to celebrate their 50th year together, including a summer family vacation and a fall road trip to Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee.
