Legion essay winner

Bayleigh Lowe, above, and Marah Pegram are the first-place winners of the Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Auxiliary Unit 175 Americanism essay contest. Bayleigh, a fifth-grader at Trinity South Elementary School, won for her essay, “How can we address and prevent veteran homelessness in our communities?” She also won first place at the Washington, Fayette and Greene County Council, Western Section and the Department of Pennsylvania. Her essay will be judged at the national level, as well. She is the daughter of Bryan and Marissa Lowe. Marah, daughter of Stacey and Merritt Pegram, is a freshman at Trinity High School. Her essay was titled, “How would our Founding Fathers respect the American flag today?” Pictured with Marah are Adjutant Deb Williams and Post Commander Dave Staniszewski.
