Christmas cookies galore

According to Megan Ealy, the library’s youth services director, the Bowlby Cookbook Club meets at the library on the last Monday of every month at 6. “I’m pretty proud of it,” said Ealy.

Rebecca Mecera of Carmichaels has been making Pizzelle cookies for the past four years. Her grandfather taught her to make them and she considered the sweet a staple of her childhood. In previous years she made them with her grandfather’s Pizzelle press. However, it broke last year so she turned to using a waffle iron.

Throughout the meeting, club members shared warm cookies, cold glasses of milk and holiday traditions their families have.
On Dec. 16 the Bowlby Cookbook Club met and shared Christmas cookies. The evening’s haul included Pizzelles, frosted sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, molasses cookies, M&M cookies, peanut butter no-bakes and two kinds of peanut butter thumb-drops.
The cookbook club began in 2019. Members, adult and junior, gather in the library on the last Monday of the month at 6 p.m. Each member brings a dish based on a pre-determined theme and they spend the meeting enjoying foods and sharing recipes.
