A cash bash to benefit Washington High School Band will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at North Franklin Township Fire Hall, Sylvan Drive, Washington. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30. Drawings will be held every 15 minutes from 7 to 10:45 p.m. Winner will be notified and need not be present. There will be raffles, tip boards, a 50/50 and auction. Five hundred tickets will be sold for a donation of $25 per ticket. Tickets include admission, food, beer and soft drinks. This is a BYOB, 21 and older event. Monongahela Women’s Club’s Dine and Donate will be held March 3-7 at Elrama Tavern located at State Route 837 in Elrama. Mention MWC and 15 percent of your bill will be donated to worthy causes in Monongahela and surrounding towns, such as Bare Necessities, which provides children in area schools with needs as shared by the school nurse, teachers and counselors. MWC accepts donations of new or gently-used clothing such as sweatpants, tops, socks and shoes sizes 4-16. Currently, schools are in particular need of girls’ clothing. The West Newton Library located at 124 N. Water Street has received a large box of sheet music that is being sold at $1 per sheet during the library’s on-going backroom book sale. Hundreds of hardcover and paperback books as well as DVDs are being sold at its $5 fill-a-bag sale. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday and Thursday, noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For information, call 724-633-0798.
Town & Country Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Hewitt Presbyterian Church, Rices Landing. Club member Linda Shefcheck will present “Gathering Maple Syrup,” sharing what she learned growing up on the family farm in Ohio. Guests are welcome. RSVP to 724-966-5856.
A chicken and biscuit dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at New Hope Church, 22 Cortez Drive, Washington. The dinner will include a vegetable, coleslaw, dessert and drink. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 10 and under. There will also be a basket raffle. Eat-in or take-out will be available.
