The Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer a Needle and Yarn Craft Workshop at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Mingo Creek Park Office. The craft will be a Valentine’s Day jar lid ornament. You can bring along preferred lid size. Refreshments and snack will be provided. Fee is $3. West Newton Center for Active Adults located at 103 E. Main Street will hold a lunch and bus trip on Thursday, Feb. 28. Lunch will be at 11:45 a.m. Participants will then head to Filbern parking lot to board a shuttle to Lady Luck Casino, Nemacolin. Cost of $10 includes a $10 gift card good for food or the gift shop, plus $15 in free play. Advance registrations must be made by the Tuesday of the previous week. The Greene County Department of Recreation will conduct a six-week painting series for all ages. Local artist Zakk Ziegler will lead the classes, which will run Feb. 26-April 2 and will be divided into two age groups. Tuesday classes will be for ages 5-10 and will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. at a cost of $10 per class. Wednesday classes will be for ages 11 and up, adults included, and run from 5 to 7 p.m. at a cost of $20 per class. The painting series will be held at the Greene County Fairgrounds’ 4-H building upstairs, except for the March 5 class, which will be held in the downstairs of the 4-H Building. The Washington Corps. of the Salvation Army located at 60 E. Maiden Street will hold its monthly rummage sale on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Doors open at 9 a.m., with a bag sale beginning at noon.
