The 2019 Annual International Fly Fishing Film Festival will be held Friday, March 8 at the Washington Elks Lodge. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the film screening beginning at 6. Hosted by Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency, films will feature world-wide fly-fishing adventures from Alaska’s barren Kuskokwim River drainage to South American jungles. There will be product giveaways and other promotions. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Elks prior to the event. Proceeds benefit the Chestnut Ridge Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Pennsylvania Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers. For information, email chase@washcochamber.com.
The Jefferson United Methodist Church will hold an all-you-can-eat ham-bean dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22. The menu includes lima, 16-bean and navy beans, corn bread, coleslaw, rolls, desserts and beverage. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children age 12 and under. Takeout will be available.
A community dinner will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, in Fellowship Hall at Rogersville United Methodist Church. At Holy Rosary Church, Muse, a communal celebration of the Anointing of the Sick will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. The Anointing of the Sick is a healing sacrament for those whose health is seriously impaired by illness or old age or those who will undergo surgery. An all-you-can-eat pizza dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at First Presbyterian Church, 609 Chess Street, Monongahela. The menu includes pizza, salad and ice cream. Cost is $ $10 for adults and $6 for children under age 12.
California University of Pennsylvania has scheduled three open house programs during the spring semester. Open houses will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 23, March 23 and April 27. Registration for each event begins at 8 a.m. on the third floor of the Natali Student Center. Meet faculty and current students, take a campus tour, learn about clubs and organizations and more.
