Slots revenue increases statewide, at Meadows
Slot machine play at Pennsylvania’s 12 casinos generated nearly $2.38 billion in revenue during the 2018-19 fiscal year, about $26.5 million more than in FY 2017-18.
The total gross revenue of $2,378,859,341 – according to figures released Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board – was up 1.13 percent higher than $2,352,320,937 the previous fiscal year. A fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.
Slots pay for FY 2018-19 resulted in $1.24 billion in tax revenue.
Revenue was up in nine of the 12 months of the most recent fiscal year. Six casinos experienced revenue increases, including The Meadows.
The North Strabane Township facility generated $211,955,727, a 1.16 percent bump from $209,520,273 in FY 2017-18. Rivers Casino, on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, posted the largest percentage increase statewide – 6.15 percent (from $274,238,465 to $291,107,335).
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, in Fayette County, experienced the biggest decline, 4.78 percent ($27,494,616 in 2018-19 from $28,875,937).
The Gaming Control Board also posted slots revenue figures for June, which statewide was up a marginal 0.50 percent year over year. Revenue last month was $198,755,901, about a $1 million bump from $197,763,672.
Seven casinos posted gains over the year, including The Meadows, whose figure increased 1.76 percent ($17,613,994 from $17,309,316).
Rivers’ revenue was up 4.71 percent ($24,059,071 from $22,977,523), while Lady Luck’s increased 7.37 percent ($2,511,426 from $2,339,080).
