Washington County has made an impression on a national stage.

Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency and its marketing firm, Savvy Fresh Washington, captured silver bronze awards recently at the 40th annual Telly Awards. It is a national competition that honors local, regional and cable TV commercials/programs, along with online commercials, videos, film and video productions.

Tourism and Savvy Fresh were recognized in for their branding and marketing campaign, “The American Spirit Lives Here,” which casts a spotlight on the county. They launched the campaign in May, and ended up with awards for craft-writing and general travel/tourism.

The two organizations produced a one-minute commercial featuring a 10-year-old girl, Temperance Scott, a student in the Canon-McMillan School District. The commercial is being shown in nine regional TV markets: Pittsburgh, Johnstown, Altoona, Erie; Columbus and Youngstown, Ohio; and Wheeling, Morgantown and Clarksburg in West Virginia.

AJ Brach, partner and chief creative officer of Savvy Fresh Washington, was pleased with the honors. “We are so excited that our work is being recognized on a national level, because it confirms that award-winning video productions can be created by small, talented agencies,” he said of his full-service marketing firm, which is based in the city of Washington.

“The American Spirit Lives Here” campaign focuses on the culture, history and sense of community in Washington County.
