COWDEN – 90 years
Russell Cowden of Prosperity will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, hosted by his children at his home.
Mr. Cowden was born June 14, 1929, in Mt. Pleasant Township.
He is the husband of the late Phyllis Cowden.
Together they had four children, the Rev. Rusty Cowden (Carolyn Griffith) of Poland, Ohio; Susan Dunn (Greg) of Prosperity, Gary Cowden (Jane) of Hickory and Bruce Cowden (Sandy) of Prosperity.
His grandchildren include Russell Cowden III, Dan Cowden, Greg Dunn Jr., Rob Dunn, Alex Cowden, Hannah Lenz, Samuel Cowden, Scott Cowden, Eric Cowden, Courtney Gray, Matt Law and Daniel Law. He also has 10 great-grandchildren, Riley Dunn, Erin Dunn, Emmett Dunn, Graham Dunn, Evelyn Cowden, Jeremiah Cowden, Violet Lenz, Madison Law, Carter Law and Reagan Law.
Mr. Cowden retired after 39 years with Bell Telephone. He is a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church. His hobbies include intarsia woodworking, helping on the farm, and mowing grass.
