Two residents of Washington County Housing Authority’s Valley View Terrace in Canonsburg were awarded scholarships last week for their academic performance.

Marshall R. White Jr., son of Kathy White, and Tavia Henderson-Gunn, daughter of Tia Henderson, were each presented a check for $2,000 from the Pennsylvania Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies, with a matching check of $1,000 from the county Housing Authority. The checks were presented by Stephen Hall, executive director, of the Housing Authority at the Valley View Terrace office June 20.

White finished his first year at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he majors in finance. His scholarship was from PAHRA’s Paul G. Percharko Memorial Scholarship fund for excellence in continuing education.

Recent Canon-McMillian High School graduate Henderson-Gunn received her scholarship from PAHRA’s L. DeWitt Boosel Memorial Scholarship fund for outstanding achievement in high school. She will be attending Carlow University, where she plans to major in biology to cardiovascular perfusion.
