April is National Poetry Month. An Annual Poetry Competition is being held through April 13. Categories include: Kindergarten-Second Grade, Third Grade-Fifth Grade, Sixth Grade-Eighth Grade, Ninth Grade-12th Grade and Adults. Entrants can enter up to 5 original poems; submission forms are available at the Circulation desk. A Poetry Reading & Awards Ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. April 29, where winners will be announced and participants will be invited to read their original work. Light refreshments will be served at this free event.
Senior Mondays takes place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on April 1. The theme is Gardening. Plant starter seeds, put together a spring craft and enjoy a light lunch. Senior Mondays are held the first Monday of each month.
Free S.A.T. Prep Classes will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, April 6 and 20, for teens. Bring a bagged lunch and scientific calculator.

Monongahela Area Library
Spaghetti Dinner Library Fundraiser will be held from noon to 4 p.m. March 31, at the Elks Club, 444 Jackson Street, Monongahela. Dinners are $9 and include spaghetti, two meatballs, side salad, drink and homemade dessert. Children under 12 can receive a dinner with one meatball for $6. Children under 2 can receive a free bowl of spaghetti. Proceeds benefit the Monongahela Area Library and the Monongahela Elks Club.
Easter Bunny Photos will be offered from noon to 4 p.m. April 6. Award-winning photographer Dave Savarino will take your child or pet’s photo with the Easter Bunny. The cost is $10 and includes a 5×7 photo, craft and treat bag. Children’s photos will be taken from noon to 2, and pets from 2 to 4. Pictures will be available for pickup on April 9. This is a Friends of the Library-organized fundraiser.
