Disaster relief available for farmers
Owners of farmland in 61 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties are eligible for disaster relief assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Gov. Tom Wolf announced last week.
Farmland owners in Washington, Greene, Fayette and Westmoreland are among those who are eligible.
This funding addresses losses caused by excessive rainfall during the 2018 crop year. It is the result of a secretarial disaster declaration and can include emergency loans from the federal Farm Service Agency.
Farmers can apply for loans for up to eight months after a secretarial disaster declaration. They should contact the local FSA office for assistance.
