Slots revenue declines statewide, and at Meadows, Lady Luck
One month after Pennsylvania casinos experienced one of their most prosperous months of slot machine play, gross revenue dipped at 10 of 12 gaming sites.
The casinos generated $200,359,402.90 in April, down about $5.8 million from $206,178,527.52 in April 2018, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced on its website Friday. That was a 2.82 percent drop year over year.
Rivers Casino, on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, was the only location in the western half of the state to post a gain from the previous April. Rivers had $24,850,214.80 in revenue last month, up 3.55 percent from $25,998,042.62. Valley Forge, near Philadelphia, recorded a 2.22 percent increase to $8,249,995.54 from $8,071,088.58.
Collectively, the dozen gaming sites had $226,597,681.24 in March slots revenue, the third-highest monthly total on record.
The Meadows Casino, in North Strabane Township, experienced a $339,000 decrease (1.91 percent) between the two Aprils. Revenue last month was $17,408,484.91, compared with $17,747,231.61 the previous year..
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, in Fayette County, absorbed a 4.59 percent decline. Revenue fell nearly $106,000 from April 2018, from $2,314,582.17 to $2,208,288.21.
Slots play last month resulted in $104,259,552 in tax revenue. An average of 25,207 slot machines operated statewide last month, 634 fewer than a year earlier.
