City Theatre in Pittsburgh presents ‘The Wanderers’

1 min read

This is the final weekend to see “The Wanderers” by Anna Ziegler on the City Theatre Main Stage on Pittsburgh’s South Side.

The production focuses on Orthodox Jews Esther and Schmuli, who have newly entered into an arranged marriage. In another story within “The Wanderers,” an author named Abe has started a secret flirtatious correspondence with movie star Julia. Shifting between the 1970s and the present, “The Wanderers” puts a magnifying glass on the complications of love across generations and what it means to be happy.

Ziegler’s work was last seen on City Theatre’s stage in 2016 with “The Last Match.” “The Wanderers” is a Pittsburgh premiere and one of only a handful of productions it has received so far. The play will receive its New York premiere early in 2023.

Performances will be 8 p.m. Friday; 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday; and Sunday at 2 p.m. For information, go online to CityTheatreCompany.org or call 412-431-2489.
