SAMA at Ligonier to host ‘wet sale’ exhibition
The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (SAMA) at Ligonier Valley will host a Winter Plein Air Paint Out in February.
More than a dozen artists will visit the Ligonier Valley from Feb. 23 to 25 to paint a variety of winter scenes from local state forests, picturesque overlooks and iconic attractions such as the beautiful Laurel Mountain Ski Resort.
Following the three days of painting, the museum will hold an exhibition “wet sale” from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, with light refreshments.
The exhibition is open to the public free of charge, and the wet sale offers an opportunity to make purchases on the freshly painted works while speaking with the artists.
If anyone is unable to make the reception, SAMA will be retaining works for view and purchase through March 5.
The paint out will offer $500 in cash prizes, which was sponsored by Ligonier Valley businesses and SAMA Ligonier Auxiliary.
Artists who are interested in participating in the paint out should stop by the museum at One Boucher Lane & Route 711 South, Ligonier, contact ligonier@sama-art.org or call 724-238-6015. A $35 non-refundable registration fee is required.
