City Theatre announces 2023-24 season
City Theatre on Pittsburgh’s South Side has announced its lineup of plays for the 2023-24 season.
The season will start Saturday, Sept. 23 with “Somewhere Over the Border” by Brian Quijada. A special collaboration between the Pittsburgh CLO and People’s Light in Malvern, the musical is inspired by the true story of the journey from El Salvador to the United States that Quijada’s mother endured. Infused with Mexican mariachi boleros, American rock and hip hop, it’s an uplifting tale about the power of determination, family and love.
“Somewhere Over the Border” will be presented through Sunday, Oct. 15.
Other productions at City Theatre in the 2023-24 season will be:
-“Miss Bennett: Christmas at Pemberley,” Nov. 25-Dec. 17.
-“South Side Stories Revisited,” Jan. 13-Feb. 18.
-“Fat Ham,” March 2-24.
-“Andy Warhol in Iran,” April 20-May 12.
Subscription packages are on sale and will be available in person, over the phone and online. Single tickets will be on sale in August and reservations for groups of 10 or more can be made starting in July.
