Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club names girl of the month
The Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club recently announced the October Girl of the Month awardee, a senior from the Carmichaels Area High School.
Alayna Simon is the daughter of James Wamsley and Kimberly Simon-Pratt. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Spanish Club, chess club and media production. Simon is the senior yearbook editor, vice president of the senior class and treasurer of Students in Action. Simon is also a member of the varsity basketball and varsity softball teams and is the cross country captain.
Simon volunteers outside of school at the food bank, blood drives, and Ten Mile Park community clean-up. Simon also played in the Budd Grebb Basketball League. Simon is a member of St. Matthias Parish.
Simon plans to attend a four-year college program and major in forensic science. Simon would like to use this degree to pursue an MD/PhD dual-degree program to become a medical examiner.
