The Martha Washington Quilters Guild will meet at the St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Ave., Washington, on Tuesdays in October from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 3 and 10 will be Linda’s stockings for Turning Point and Oct. 17 will be tessellating leaves by Yvonne. The guild will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 24. Oct. 31 will be open sew or tessellating leaves if necessary. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to join.

The parent group of the Intermediate Unit 1 Southwestern Local Task Force will host its monthly meeting Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. If you plan to attend, please contact Tami Kite for the Zoom meeting link at tami.kite@iu1.orfg. There will be a presentation on student-led individualized education programs by Chris Bokulich. All parents of children with disabilities and personnel from agencies and school districts in Washington, Fayette and Greene counties are encouraged to attend. Friday Faith Cafe at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 900 E. Beau St., Washington, welcomes the Bridgeville Male Ensemble in concert Oct. 6, 7-9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event is family-friendly, with free admission and refreshments. The ensemble features Raymond Partee on vocals, Gary Walton on the keyboard, Donald Edmunds on guitar, Damien Wilson on Bass, Don Reid on drums and Bob Wysocki on blues harp.

The Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will host a star party at the Mingo Creek Park Observatory Oct. 6 and 7. Safe solar observing begins at 4:30 p.m., with night sky observing at approximately 6:45 p.m., weather permitting.

The Brownsville Area Ministerial Association-sponsored Brownsville Area Christian Praise Festival will be Oct. 7, from 2-7 p.m. at the Cast Iron Amphitheater in downtown Brownsville. There will be live Christian music, food and children’s activities. The rain location will be at the Sons of Italy. Call Heidi with any questions at 724-970-3301.

The CTVFC will sponsor an oldies dance at the Carroll Township Social Center on October 7 from 7-10 p.m. The DJ is Ralph Trilli. Beverages and food will be available for purchase.
