Zonta International honors seven women at Rose Day ceremony

The Washington County chapter of Zonta International honored seven women at its 33rd annual Rose Day last month.

The Rose Day event, held Sept. 17 at the Doubletree Hotel on Racetrack Road in North Strabane Township, celebrates the accomplishments of the women in their workplace and their service to the community. Those receiving awards were Janice Coen, Non-Profit Award; Barbara Cyprowski, Business; Elaine Frost, Arts; Emily Holmes, Government Service; Jennifer Kirschler, Medical Service; Marsha Pleta, Education Service, and Cherie Sears, Community Service.

Zonta is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women through service and advocacy. The Washington County chapter began in 1985 with 15 women.
