Citizens Library celebrates National Library Week
Citizens Library in Washington will hold two special events during National Library Week, which runs April 19-25.
As part of the celebration, the library will host a Sweet Noon-Time Symphony on Wednesday, April 22, at noon. Community members are invited to enjoy live music and light refreshments.
Two musicians will perform.
Matt Pienkowski is currently the principal trumpet for the Washington Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 2006. Pianist Mary Smaligo holds a master’s degree in music and a bachelor’s degree in music education.

On Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m., visitors can step back in time with a special McGuffey Readers program. Meadowcroft Village historic reenactor Lindy Holmes will discuss Claysville native William Holmes McGuffey and his legacy in American literacy.
