Bryan Karner will present to Jefferson College Historical Society on Monday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m. He will provide an introduction to backyard beekeeping. The meeting will be held at the Canonsburg Senior Center, 30 E. Pike St., Canonsburg. The public is welcome.
California United Women in Faith (UWF) is hosting a meeting to discuss food insecurity. A speaker will provide information about the local food bank and other resources that are available. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10 in the social hall of California United Methodist Church, 227 Third St., California. The meeting is not limited to women, and anyone can attend.
Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 250 Buffalo Road South, Washington, is hosting a free community luncheon on Wednesday, March 11, from noon to 1 p.m. Anyone is welcome.
California United Methodist Church’s Care and Share Thrift Store has the following deals: March 12-13, $1 or $2 off purchase total; March 19-20, 50% off spring coats and short-sleeved tops; March 26-27, $1 children’s clothing. The Monongahela Veterans Council will meet at VFW 1409 – Black Diamond, 793 E. Main St., Monongahela, on Friday, March 13 at 7 p.m. to discuss the upcoming events and activities scheduled for the year. All interested parties are welcome to attend.

Long Branch Community Grange, 210 Chestnut St., Coal Center, will begin its season with a performance from acoustic guitarist Dave Hixon on Saturday, March 28. UPMC Washington Hospital Auxiliary is holding a raffle for $500 in meat from 84 Packing Co., and $200 from Walmart. The $5 tickets can be purchased in the gift shop and main lobby at the hospital. Drawing is March 31 at noon.
Penn Highlands Mon Valley will host “Let’s Talk Women’s Health: Pancakes and Purses” on Saturday, April 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center. Penn Highlands Mon Valley is located at 1163 Country Club Road in Monongahela. During the breakfast, attendees will enjoy a pancake breakfast while listening to presentations on women’s health topics. Presenters include: Natalie Furgiuele, MD, FACS, director of the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Breast Program; Walter Cox, MD, gynecologist; Shaina Lipchinsky, CRNP, nurse practitioner specializing in gynecological care; Thomas Sisk, MD, family medicine physician.
