Washington Teen Outreach presents annual community awards

Common Ground Teen Center in Washington

The UPMC Washington Teen Outreach will hold its 23rd annual Community Awards Night at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Washington Park Elementary School, 801 W. Wheeling St.in Washington. The public is invited.

The event recognizes individuals, community agencies and businesses that have provided extraordinary support in the past year to the Teen Outreach mission to young people.

Awardees are:

Agency Award: Literacy Council of Southwestern PA, accepted by Brandi Miller.

Alumni Award: Lt. Col. Nicholas O’Brien, former Peer Educator.

Business Award: Powerhouse Productions and Sam Luba.

Community Award: Trenna Passalacqua, CEO of Blueprints.

Educator Award: Alec Ferrari and Ashley Staton, Trinity High School teachers.

Fellowship Award: Brianna Kadlecik, masters in social work intern.

Inclusion Award: Dr. Linda Edwards, Inaugural Chair of Nursing and Professor at Washington & Jefferson College.

Peer Educator Award: Graduating Peer Educators, Aujalae Lyle, Sarah Secco and Isiah Weakland.

Power Award: John Tamiggi and Tiffany Milovac, Department of Human Services.

President’s Award: Vaughn Bryant, rising senior at W&J

President’s Award: Hunter Czajkowski, former peer educator and Teen Center staff.

School Administrator Award: George Lammay, superintendent, Washington School District.

Service Award: DeAnna Martin, Washington Park Director.

Spirit Award: Steven Pascoe of Pascoe Media.

Social Justice Award: Ukrainian visitors who met with the teens at Common Ground Teen Center, accepted by Kathy Sabol from Washington Rotary.

Washington’s Got Talent emcees: Ava Bowman, London Brewer, Moshe Dale, Lily Gough, Zoe Kumpfmiller, Jacob Sapienza, Car’Liyah Walden.

Youth Achievement Awards: Peer educators and members of the Common Ground Teen Center and members of the Executive Board will be acknowledged for commitment and achievement: Ryan Hester, Adele Hollowood, Logan Hollowood, Da’Shya Jackson, Isabella King, Aujalae Lyle, Kaiden Mowery, Ele Sickman, Irre Sickman, Car’Liyah Walden, and Alexander Young.

Youth Achievement Awards, Advisory Board: The following seniors served on the Adolescent Advisory Board and facilitated the Youth Conference at W&J: Morgan Baker, Kelsey Blommel, Ava Bowman, Rogan Cavanaugh, Lillah Clark, Phoebe Drochak, Allison Ewbank, Bella Gilliot, Sienna Heasley, Zoe Kumpfmiller, Bo McCartney, Sydney Patterson, Amelia Ressler, Ella Richey, Jacob Sapienza, Emily Tuite, and Annalese Trilli.

Youth Achievement Awards, Burgettstown Respect Online Peer Educators: The following seniors served as peer educators in Respect Online program: Sam Elich, Annie Enos, Manny Enos, Peyton Mermon, JT Newark, and Layla Sherman

Youth Achievement Awards, ELECT Program: The following seniors graduated from ELECT Program: Sheniya Anthony, Olivia Black, McKenzie Fisher, Kortnie Koch, Bailey Manzella, Jason Myers, Destiney Pratt, Faith Sidor, and Britney Snyder.

Youth Achievement Awards, Washington Respect Online Peer Educators: Lily Ewing, Bella Gilliot, Tommy Inghram, Bo McCartney.

Youth Achievement Awards, SHO (Students Helping Others Committee): The following seniors served on our SHO Committee, volunteering with our See Saw Marathon, Washington’s Got Talent fundraiser, and Youth Conference: Morgan Baker, Kelsey Blommel, Ava Bowman, Rogan Cavanaugh, Lillah Clark, Allison Ewbank, Sienna Heasley, Zoe Kumpfmiller, Amelia Ressler, Ella Richey, Jacob Sapienza, and Emily Tuite.

Youth Advocate Award: Jessica Sphar, Children and Youth Director.

Volunteer Awards: Jo Jo Burgess, mayor of Washington; Adrien-Sophia Curry, Teen Center staff alumnus; and Dr. Susan Medley, Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Music at W&J.
