Coroner working to identify body found by hunters
WAYNESBURG – Authorities continued Monday to attempt to identify the body of a person whose remains were found Saturday by hunters in a wooded area off Gas Company Road near Mt. Morris.
Greene County Coroner Gregory Rohanna said he suspects no foul play in the person’s death and authorities have a “suspicion” of the person’s identity.
Rohanna said the body was badly decomposed, but he declined further comment. “We’re not releasing anything until we make a positive confirmation of the identity,” he said.
The body was found by two hunters about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in an area near 222 Gas Company Road, which is just east of the entrance to Meadow Ride Industrial Park.
