Truck strikes school bus in Canton Township; no injuries reported

1 min read

No one was injured when a pickup truck collided with a school bus Monday morning in Canton Township, said state police.

Thomas C. Richards, 34, of Lost Creek, W.Va., was driving east on Jefferson Avenue in Canton Township at 7:20 a.m. Monday when he fell asleep and his truck struck the rear of a school bus that was stopping to pick up students near Hobson Avenue, according to police.

Neither Richards nor the bus driver, 78-year-old Robert J. Davison of Washington, was injured, police said. A police report did not indicate whether any students were on board at the time or specify what school district the bus serves.

Police said Richards will be cited for careless driving.
