Man charged with having pipe bomb, drugs
A Canonsburg man found with a suspected pipe bomb and drugs during a compliance check at his home earlier this month was arraigned on the charges Thursday.
Canonsburg police were assisting Washington County adult probation with the compliance check on Justin Miller, 25, of 310 Cecil St., Dec. 12 when they saw a large quantity of marijuana along with a scale and drug paraphernalia in the living room.
Police then obtained a search warrant for the home. Additional marijuana was found in the living room, as well as in Miller’s bedroom and that of Martin Jackson. Drug paraphernalia including scales, a grinder and pipes also were found.
Police found what appeared to be a pipe bomb in Miller’s bedroom along with gunpowder and other components. The Allegheny County bomb squad was called and took the pipe and gunpowder. The bomb technician told police the next day that no gunpowder was inside the pipe.
Miller was placed in the Washington County jail that day for the probation violation. He was arraigned Thursday before District Judge David Mark on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal conspiracy and possession of a facsimile of mass destruction. He was returned to jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set before Mark Jan. 29.
